DIGITEMB UNIVERSITY · PRACTICE COMPANION
Start with a workspace you can return to. This independent DigitEMB companion helps you organise a first software practice session before following the official Hatch Academy lesson.
Course curriculum, account access and software requirements are managed by Hatch Academy / Wilcom.

What this page is: a DigitEMB-authored practice guide. Use the official course for its complete instructions, current requirements and enrollment.
A CALM FIRST SESSION
Work through these four small decisions before you begin the provider’s lesson.
Create one clearly named folder for test artwork, working files and stitched samples. A consistent location makes it easier to return to an experiment.
Use a non-critical design to explore the workspace. Save an editable version before changing anything, so you can compare decisions later.
Take a few minutes to notice where designs, object controls, colour tools and file commands live. You do not need to memorise every control on day one.
Label each experiment with its intended size and material. That note gives the preview and the sewn sample something useful to be compared against.
A SIMPLE LEARNING LOOP
WHAT TO NOTICE
A tidy first setup is not about getting every setting right. It gives you a way to retrace a choice, revisit a file and make the next practice session more deliberate.
