A story in a small space

A patch concentrates an idea into a compact form. Its outline, central motif and surrounding space need to work together at a glance. Compare these entries for the different ways a small design can express an interest, a memory or a sense of belonging.

A 12-pack of FR identification labels, embroidered. The set covers six colourways - yellow, orange and red FR squares, navy and white FR squares, and HRC2 2112 diagonal markers - which is enough to tag a full rotation of coveralls, work shirts and welding jackets from a single purchase. Each label is 1 inch square, the standard footprint for a chest panel, sleeve or collar tab. The lettering is satin stitch on bordered twill. That is the material point: printed labels fade, crack and lift under industrial laundering, and a label that cannot be read is a label that is not doing its job. Thread survives the wash. The heat-activated backing bonds to cotton and denim with a full five minutes of firm, steady heat. For garments that go through commercial laundering, sew the border - it takes a minute per label and it is the difference between a label that lasts a season and one that lasts the life of the garment. Note: these are identification labels. They mark a garment; they do not confer a flame-resistance rating on it. Made by digitemb, who make embroidered patches and nothing else.

  • 12 FR PATCHES FOR CLOTHING IN SIX COLOURWAYS - Yellow, orange, red, navy and white FR squares plus HRC2 2112 diagonal markers - enough to label a full rotation of coveralls, jackets and work shirts in one purchase.
  • FR TAGS AT 1 X 1 INCH, THE STANDARD LABEL FOOTPRINT - Sized to sit on a chest panel, sleeve or collar tab without interfering with the garment or the wearer.
  • EMBROIDERED FLAME RESISTANT LABELS, NOT PRINTED - Satin-stitch lettering on a bordered twill square. Printed labels fade and lift under industrial laundering; thread does not.
  • IRON ON TO COVERALLS, WORK SHIRTS AND WELDING JACKETS - Heat-activated backing bonds to cotton and denim with about five minutes of firm, steady heat. For any garment going through industrial wash cycles, sew the border.
  • CLEAR HRC2 2112 IDENTIFICATION ON THE FLOOR - High-contrast colour blocks so a supervisor can identify a garment's marking at a glance.
